SMART Air knows what home owners need. Whether you’re looking to keep costs down by climate-controlling a few rooms or maintain precise temperature across multiple zones or apartments, we can recommend the right environmental solution for your space.

Air conditioning blue swash

Find the perfect ducted, evaporative, or split system cooling with our quick guide.

Ducted refrigerated cooling systems

A discreet unit for crisp air with no humidity.

To avoid the dampness sometimes associated with cooling systems, refrigerated cooling dehumidifies the air. This unobtrusive option suits any interior design or building and enables you to control which areas you need climate controlled.

Benefits
  • Year-round comfort (with the reverse option for heating)
  • Cold air without humidity
  • Decreases energy costs by sectioning off rooms
  • Unobtrusive design

Evaporative cooling

Low allergy and ‘fresh air’ cooling.

Evaporative coolers blow air across water, which turns to vapour to cool the air. This unit replaces the air every couple of minutes for a natural, healthy air feeling, and is perfect for those with allergies or skin problems. Cool your whole home or individual zones with gentle, less drying air.

Benefits
  • Air is replaced, not recycled
  • Uses less electricity than refrigerated air conditioning
  • Healthy, fresh, natural air circulation
  • Fully programmable temperature control

Heating red swash

Find heating solutions that are right for you with our quick guide below.

Gas ducted heating

Natural, cost-effective warmth. Through ducts either in your ceiling or under your floor, gas-warmed air is circulated throughout your home, with the ability to close off rooms or zones to further save on costs. This quiet natural warmth is perfect for asthma or allergy sufferers, and suits families who need to heat their whole home.

Benefits
  • Each room or zone is controlled independently
  • Fully programmable temperature control
  • Unobtrusive design

Hydronic heating

Low allergy solution in wall panels or floor. For quiet, natural warmth throughout your home, hydronic heating warms water in a central gas boiler and then pipes it either through the wall panels or floor circuits in the concrete slab. This produces a clean, radiant heat that’s safe and comfortable for everyone – particularly those with allergies who are sensitive to the dust produced by fans. For completely invisible heating, consider hydronic underfloor heating.

Benefits
  • Cost-effective
  • Safe for children and people with allergies
  • Underfloor heating has no visible panels or heads

Reverse cycle

Heating and cooling

in one unit.

red swash blue swash

Stay cool in summer and warm in winter. Select a single unit, or multi-head to control multiple rooms or apartments with one outdoor unit.

Reverse cycle split system air conditioning / heating

Instant heat and effective cooling on a budget, all year round. Circulate air through a single room or open space with a split system wall-mounted unit. Reverse cycle air con/heating circulates air instantly. This unit doesn’t create condensation and uses recycled air to maintain your desired temperature to stay both cool in summer and warm through winter.

Benefits
  • Saves on running costs – only heat or cool where you need to
  • Controlled by remote control or app
  • Cheaper to install than a ducted refrigeration system
  • Year-round comfort (with the reverse option for air con/heating)

Multi head split system air conditioning / heating

Control multiple zones with only one system.
This is a highly versatile solution for year-round heating – and cooling as well. Perfect for compact spaces or large family homes, this unit heats multiple rooms or apartments with only one outdoor unit. Each separate room can be controlled with its own remote control and programmable timer. Your running costs only apply to that outdoor unit, making considerable savings to your maintenance bill.

Benefits
  • Year-round comfort (with the reverse option for cooling)
  • Each room or zone controlled independently
  • Decreases energy costs by sectioning off rooms
  • Fully programmable temperature control

Who is SMART Air?

SMART Air designs and installs fully climate-controlled spaces: from residential wine cellars to complex commercial fitouts. SMART Air has the experience, training and technical expertise to create a holistic solution for your project.

Our family background in plumbing hydraulics and mining dates from the late 1960s to today. As a second-generation entity in the industry, our background gives us a uniquely long-term view of how to tackle the environmental challenges of today.

SMART Air will research the best, most cost-effective models – so you don’t have to. Our research and development on the latest advances in worldwide heating and cooling sets us apart in the industry. With this we create only the best response to your individual needs, be it cooling a small workspace, ensuring safety and compliance on multi-zoned commercial buildings, or problem-solving and creating a tailored design specification for your fitout.

Problem solving is our strength

SMART Air specialists may advise you that the most popular or the top-rated product isn’t necessarily the best response to your specific space. Our recommendations may depend on variables such as solar power, the size of your build or area, or may be driven by cost and efficiency. While we’re perfectly comfortable designing a multi-head unit for your small office, we’ve also expertly designed a complex environmental system for a Buddhist temple.

Environment

We use only products that meet strict Minimum Efficiency Performance Standards (MEPS). This means your units will use less energy and have lower running costs over their lifetime. Should you install solar energy on your building, we can provide the most efficient, low maintenance product solution for you. While we’re not tied to one product over another, SMART Air can guarantee environmentally friendly, low carbon impact climate control systems on every job.

We back our products and service

SMART Air is so confident in the heating and cooling units we recommend that we fully guarantee all our products and offer a 6-year warranty on all our labour. While all our products are backed by the manufacturer, we also back our products – 100%. From initial estimates to designing complex requirements, our professionalism and streamlined processes make all the difference to your project. Our estimators use a proven method to ensure quality, timeliness and cost savings on every project.

100% independent quality control

We use two forms of quality control – not just our principal supervisor, but an external warranty contractor to declare compliance. All SMART Air specialists are fully registered and licensed and can ensure compliance across all aspects of your project. We keep up-to-date on industry trends and compliance with our affiliations with Arctic, AMCA, Master Plumbers, and AIRAH.

“The SMART Air team completed the job in a timely manner, and the system performs excellently and as described. The crew left the work area clean and used drop sheets and vacuumed when necessary. Stan’s team helped move the heavy furniture and picture, tidied up well and installed the unit in a sensible place.”

- Anthony and Chloe

“You’ve solved our home’s unsatisfactory heating/cooling and reduced our overall energy requirements and costs. The ‘boys’ were also very respectful, worked very hard and did a very good job cleaning up at the end.”

- Jeannette and John

“Stan and his team were helpful, knowledgeable, reliable and professional. They’re a great crew and we were really happy with the work and installation.”

Should I upgrade my air conditioner?

If your system requires constant repairs, is 15 years or older, or can’t heat or cool your home properly we recommend you replace it. Modern air conditioners are more energy efficient than older models. If your air conditioner is using the old, discredited R-22/Freon gas, then upgrading will see a greater efficiency – both in energy and your utility bills.

How can I tell if my gas heater is leaking carbon monoxide?

Carbon monoxide (CO) is a gas produced when combusting (burning) fuels. It is colourless, odourless, tasteless and can be lethal. Be aware of flu-like symptoms, nausea, headaches, dizziness and fatigue. Long-term exposure can lead to unconsciousness or death. If your gas heater or hot water system is of concern to you, call to have your systems checked.

How can I maintain the efficiency and life of my split system / heater / cooler?

Clean and replace filters frequently. Ensure you use your curtains and blinds to keep out the weather extremes.
